The title “VII” was inspired by the significance of the number. Seven is a holy number that often represents completion or divine fulfilment. It is a powerful number that symbolizes a person's inner wisdom, self-awareness, and intuition. Biblically, 7 is tied to the foundation of the Word of God, and to the completion of His Creation. “I chose this title for my EP because I felt like I have come full-circle, learning new aspects of putting a body of work together, not being afraid to try out new things and having more creative control. I feel complete, almost as if it’s the beginning of something new, something spectacular and I cannot wait to see where this new season leads me,” says Samantha.
This EP was executively produced by Samantha and KD Bangers who took time, adding and subtracting sounds and concepts until they landed on ones that worked sonically. Also on this EP, we have cameos by the lovely songstress Mpho Sebina and the very talented Jordan Moozy, who added their own special touch to the songs that they feature on.
This message is woven through this project very delicately, through the messaging of the songs. From affirmation songs that speak to one realising that they are worthy of an overflow of goodness happening to and for them (Beautiful), to questioning if this music-journey really is worth the testing and if one should just give up (Not the same).
It shows the importance of stepping back when one is confused while on a path of chasing a dream and allowing themselves to re-align so that they can see things a bit more clearer (Marang) to being unapologetic and not holding back from being fully in the pursuit of a dream (No holding back). Off course the messaging of love had to also be brought up, because what are we without love.
